Jon Kabat-Zinn leads a session
on Mindfulness at Google. Jon is Professor of Medicine Emeritus and founding director of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He teaches mindfulness meditation as a technique to help people cope with stress, anxiety, pain and illness.
Dr. Philippe Goldin, clinical pyschologist and neuroscientist at Department of Psychology, Stanford University, discusses the science of mindfulness meditation, at the 11/27/2007 "Down to a Science Cafe" talk. Dr. Goldin discussed his findings in the field of Mindfulness
such as how meditation affects neurological systems.
Scientists have begun to bring their attention to meditation for its
affects in re-wiring the brain. This area of research has been named Mindfulness. From the positive results of Mindfulness study, many therapists
have begun to use meditation as a treatment for patients with mild anxiety and
depressive tendencies. This practice of bringing one’s attention to the present has been said to
provide tremendous well-being and emotional balance.

reports about brain plasticity and the effect of meditation on the brain and
emotions. The first part of this documentary tells the story of scientists and Buddhist monks collaborating to unlock the mysteries of the brain during meditations. The later part highlights on the ability of brain to regenerate and rewire itself through experience and exercises, a phenomenon called neuroplasticity.
